If you’re looking to level up your Pokemon in Pokemon Ruby and take them from level 40-50 to at least the 60s, here’s a guide to help you find the best training spots and strategies.
Sky Pillar
After defeating the Elite Four, the Sky Pillar becomes one of the best places to train. Here’s how to get there and maximize your experience:
- Getting to Sky Pillar:
- Start in Pacifidlog Town.
- Surf east until you find a small maze of rocks in the water.
- Navigate the maze by going left, up, right, and up until you find the entrance to the Sky Pillar.
- Training Tips:
- For Pokemon levels 40-50: Stick to the first floor for battles.
- For Pokemon levels 50-55: Move to the third floor and above for stronger opponents.
- Equip an Exp. Share on one of your Pokemon to make training more efficient.
Victory Road
If your Pokemon are slightly weaker (levels 30-40), Victory Road is a reliable location for battles against mid-level wild Pokemon and trainers. Use this area as a stepping stone to prepare for tougher challenges.
Pokemon League
Once your Pokemon reach levels 50-60, the Pokemon League becomes an excellent training spot. Repeated battles with the Elite Four and the Champion provide significant experience points.
Gabby and Ty
Gabby and Ty, a duo of trainers, offer another great training opportunity. Since they’re trainer battles, they provide more experience than wild Pokemon. They use level 39 Pokemon and can be rebattled repeatedly. Here’s where to find them:
- Above Mauville City:
- Use Rock Smash to access their location. Bring a Pokemon with the Rock Smash HM.
- Right of Mauville City:
- After crossing the small lake with Surf.
- Right of Fortree City:
- Near Winona’s gym.
Gabby and Ty will rotate between these three locations in the above order, so track them down accordingly.
Additional Tips
- Rebattling Gym Leaders: After obtaining the Match Call feature on your PokeNav, you can rematch gym leaders for high-level trainer battles.
- Meteor Falls (Optional): If you’re confident and want an extra challenge, battle Steven Stone in Meteor Falls. He’s the former Champion and has powerful Pokemon, so come prepared.
By utilizing these strategies and locations, your Pokemon will grow stronger in no time, and you’ll be ready to tackle any challenge that comes your way in Pokemon Ruby. Happy training!
